Integration of Janus into Periscope (and Twitter)

Motivated by Twitter’s goal of getting the world to converse in public, we have been extending our live broadcasting architecture to support hangouts-style group conversations that can broadcast to a large viewing audience. We chose Janus as the SFU to support this. This talk details the integration.
Liubo Chen, a senior software engineer at Twitter. I have been working on the integration of Janus into Periscope since I joined Twitter in March, 2018. Before Joining twitter, I had worked for Blizzard Entertainment for one year with focus on co-routine library development in c++14 to support the Battle.net’s new stateless game services effort. Back further, I had 3 years work experience at Amazon AWS and worked on media streaming with WebRTC and STX, and 8 years work experience at Garmin International and worked on GPS devices, specifically on Personal Navigation Devices.
I earned my PhD in Computer Science from Kansas State University in 2005.
